Brief Church History

Our church, originally named Front Royal Bible Church, began on November 21, 1960 and met for several years in the old Presbyterian church here in Front Royal. On January 1, 1961 John J. Stevenson accepted the call to become the pastor of the church. In 1965 the lower level of the present building was dedicated and in the early 70's the upper level was completed. In the fall of 1992 Pastor Stevenson died and in January of 1993 David L. Birch became the pastor. He served as pastor until early 2001 when he resigned to begin a teaching and counseling ministry. On June 2, 2001 Herb Taylor began his ministry as pastor until Pastor Taylor resigned as of December 31, 2009 to work full time in the hispanic ministry is presently serving the Lord in this ministry today.

On December 6, 2006 the Front Royal Bible Church voted to change its name to "Skyline Baptist Church" to more reflect the historic positions of the church since its inception. Though the name has changed, its doctrine and positions have not.

On January 1, 2010, Pastor Taylor and his wife Wanda started their ministry to the hispanics full time.

April, 2010, The Pulpit Committee calls Pastor Randy DeSantis to be the new Pastor of Skyline Baptist Church and he accepts. Pastor DeSantis will start the end of June.

From the first day it has been our commitment to not only teach the Scripture, but live the Scripture. Our goal here at Skyline is to focus on the Word because truth matters.
